Type Casting (CAST)

Problem

The downstream machine learning model expects salaries as text features, but they are currently stored as integers in the database. Select the salary column, but cast it as a VARCHAR (string) named salary_str.

Table: employees

• employee_id (INT): Unique identifier for the employee.
• first_name (VARCHAR): First name of the employee.
• last_name (VARCHAR): Last name of the employee.
• salary (INT): Employee's salary.
• department_id (INT): Foreign key referencing the department.
